(lygenztia *271) But, i'm standing right here?

Ever notice that people that phone a store get better service than the people that are actually in the store?

Why must it be like this? I have money, debit, credit...rupees, whatever and I am RIGHT HERE.

Kinda pisses you off when that happens, doesn't it? Someone cant get their lazy ass off the couch and tear themselves away from their TV, yet you are actually in the store WITH MONEY.

Next time this happens to me I plan to protest by taking my clothes off and running around the store naked. I know, at that point, I will have gotten the staff's attention.

(lygentzia *270) Gotcha!!!!!

Workplace pranks can be so much fun. Of course, there is always that one idiot that takes it ten million miles too far, but that should never stop a “good prank”.

And what, you ask, defines a “good prank”? Well, that is easy. It’s when the prankster directs the humour at themselves and not at another’s expense. It’s easy to think up a self-deprecating prank that will make others laugh, if you’re creative. No need to be mean to others, that’s bad form. (and mean people suck)

So, for example, peeing in the office coffee pot, is NOT a “good prank”.

I say bring back the "good pranks". The office is better for it and so is morale.

(lygentzia *269) Jeeves, another pint please....

I'm not really sure when this whole craft beer genre became so pervasive in the pub industry. That said, I sure do like it. Some of the brews are nasty, mind you. That said, once you get a taste for the craft beer the mass produced brew seems so..."pedestrian". Another fun aspect is watching the uninitiated develop a taste for the craft suds. (insert funny faces and grimaces here)

I will say the craft beer snobs annoy me, with their lofty assessments of the various brews, but they are to be ignored as beer is to be enjoyed. The craft beer snob is usually attired in some whacky hat (like a "beret") and has an odd smell about them. You can be clean and sample beer, ya know, snobby stinkerson.

Anyway, get out and enjoy a craft pint and support the little guy. Man Antler in Bowmanville is one of my absolute favourites and Thursday night is open Mic night for the music genre.

(lygenztia *268) Home is where the heart is....

I visited Ottawa recently and gazed out over the beautiful Rideau Canal, with the sun glaring off its ice. People were everywhere........skating, smiling and generally loving life along the Canal.

Then, oddly, I had a sense of guilt; a slight pang in my stomach. I realized I have never skated on the Rideau Canal. Despite all of my trips to Ottawa (and there have been many) I've never skated the Canal. I am a seasoned traveller having been to Mexico, Cuba, Panama, Spain, Portugal, the U.S.A. But yet, i've never taken part in this purely Canadian tradition.

Kind of got me to thinking, maybe I should spend more time taking in our natural wonders and less time on foreign, sandy beaches. Next time I go to Ottawa, i'm taking my skates with me. But, mind you, I am still going to do the foreign sandy beaches.

Canal Janvier and...Beach Fevrier!

(*lygenztia 267) Take me to your Leader.......

Leadership is an interesting concept. The person that most wants to be a Leader, is generally speaking the worst choice to make the Leader. The group, through an informal and subconscious process, will always determine their Leader. Great Leaders are born, its a combination of confidence, charisma and compassion. True Leaders ponder important decisions and conversely, act decisively and quickly in times of need.

They also recognize their decisions will impact members of the group differently and take that into consideration when making decisions that affect the group.

The group may give a tacit approval of a Leader that is chosen for them, but they will always turn to the person they recognize as their Leader in times of need, or upheaval.

True Leaders do not seek the role. The group bestows it on them, each and every time.

(lygenztia *266) Ice, where the Hell is the ice?

I travel with work, which involves hotel stays. It's always the same after you check in; you go and check out the gym you will never use and say "oh, that's nice they have a treadmill". (c'mon we all do it)

Next though, after we have unpacked, we go and look for ice. This is critical. I'm not sure why, it just is. Most hotels now have a fridge in the room, but nevertheless there is some urgent, over-arching need to get ice. Think about it, when you get home after work do you immediately seek out ice? Well, no. But when in a hotel, we must have ice.

Except on weekends when company may need some ice for their drink I don't ever go for a cube at home. Yet, when away, I must have ice.

I don't get it, but not going to fight it. Ice in hotels, is free. For now.....
