Lygenztia *443 (Good Friday) April 10, 2020

As of 10:00 p.m. ET on Friday April 10 2020, Canada had 22, 248 confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19. An increase of 2957 confirmed cases from yesterday.

Durham Region reported 318 confirmed cases with 33 in hospital and 90 resolved. An increase of 40 cases since yesterday.

Cold here today, light snow to start the day. It's Good Friday and, usually, a time to gather. Not today. The Pope held Good Friday mass with few people in an empty St. Peter's square in Vatican City. The Archbishop of France held Good Friday mass in the Notre Dame Cathedral, a first since the tragic fire there.

Thankfully, the federal government will not be enacting the Emergencies Act. The power it gives the federal government scares me and while I am not a conspiracy theorist, I believe in checks and balances and questioning/debating public policy.

The tragedies are starting to pop up with increasing frequency. An absolute horror show at a Quebec retirement home. The story is graphic, so do not click on the link if you are meek, or queasy.

On the up-side...........

Breakfast was french toast, cheese slice, sausage and maple syrup. We called it 'Mcgriddles'. (Please, don't tell Mcdonald's, I don't want to get sued)

We went for a drive today and took some supplies to my son and ALSO got some great news. His girlfriend had been tested for COVID-19 (as I mentioned previously) and it came back "NEGATIVE". Thank God. And, yes, we visited from a great distance. I am not a "hugger", but damn I sure wanted to.

Video chats are becoming the norm, we spent a good part of last night chatting with friends. Called my Mom, to check in. They got a snow storm, so she is not so happy. Tonight, another video chat with some cottage friends in Maynooth.

Oh my goodness....the videos and the memes that are circulating are so clever and such a great distraction. They spread like wild-fire, just like........................

Please remember, try to stay positive, follow the rules, help where you can and be kind.
