Lygenztia *677 (Cuba.....) April 21, 2024 ( a few days late)

As previously mentioned, I strive to publish once a week on Friday.

But, this Friday past I was in Cuba with a friend. He needed help to bring his dogs home. Which is another blog (or book) all on its own.

Cuba feels like going back in time. Classic cars, the architecture, antiquated power grid. Cattle, chickens, goats...just wandering around. With the chickens, I can never figure out how they keep track of who owns which chicken.

We get off to a "not good start" because we took a taxi to the wrong hotel. So, then we have to get another taxi to the correct hotel. But, it's not all bad! When we check in, the hotel clerk says "I have big suprise". Turns out we were upgraded to massive, beautiful 5 star rooms. Don't know how (yet) but we were.

We spent two days at the pool, doing cool guy stuff and we were also blessed with a lovely visit from a Cuban fellow, who is a friend of my friend. I could have listened to him for hours, his stories were so fascinating and he was so proud. Cubans have little, but they are proud, innovative and resilient. It turns out our Cuban friend works for the hotel chain, so it all comes together and makes sense. He set us up with the nice rooms.

It was blast, but three days/two nights were enough given we were two guys with no adult supervision. I made it home. But my liver? Well, I think I left that in Cuba.

On this day in history, in 2016, American musician Prince—who created groundbreaking music that fused funk, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and pop and was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s and '90s—died at age 57 from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, a powerful opioid.

Today is National Yellow Bat Day and on the Pastafarian Calendar it is Boring People Baiting Day.
